The School Center Ptuj is one of the biggest secondary school institutions in Slovenia. There are five pedagogically autonomous schools, covering the fields of economics, mechanical engineering, agriculture, electrical engineering and computer science. At Vocational and Technical School of Mechanical Engineering a program for mechanics has been carried out for already the second school year – a program that is based on new pedagogical principles, that is student oriented system. The program is based on joint lesson sheet or teaching realization (realization of curriculum) and obligatory education at employer, which lasts 24 weeks (38 lessons a week). School Center Ptuj takes an active part in the project of reducing drop-outs, incorporating children with special needs, offering additional educational programmes for young, who have dropped out of secondary school education system. In the project we wish to gain and develop a model of incorporating the young, who abandoned the education, help them to gain a profession and together with employers offer an opportunity of employment as well as ensuring social safety. In the precautionary sense we will form a work group that will include the adolescent, who expressed a wish to stop an education, back into supplementary program. Our goal in this supplementary program will be to try to achieve that young will return back into educational system.
